First off, I feel like this is the first time my generation has really had a seat at the table. It is great to see James Franco and Anne Hathaway hosting. It's great to see lots of late 20's and early 30's actors and actresses come into their own and be recognized amongst the big players in film. Natalie Portman is my generation's leading lady.
Secondly.. I'm just casually watching this year. I don't really feel like I've got a dog in the race as far as any movies or performances I'm rooting for over any others. I compare this to two years ago, when I felt like Slumdog Millionaire really brought the Oscars to life.
I'm totally checking out the clothes, set and speeches.
Although I don't have a dog in the race, that doesn't mean I didn't have a few performances I didn't think should have been nominated. The top of my list is the snub to Jonsi for his song Sticks and Stone in How to Train Your Dragon, and Dakota Fanning as Cherie Curry in The Runaways.
